A few weeks ago I received an amazing delivery from The Body Shop Ireland which contained their Finest Facial Mask Duo Gift Set* (and a few other very exciting festive goodies which I'll be blogging about very very soon) This gorgeous little box includes their best selling Himalayan Charcoal Purifying Glow Mask and their British Rose Fresh Plumping Mask AKA the ultimate multimasking duo.
Over the past six years I've come out at as Bisexual on two separateoccasions. When I was 14 years old, after weeks of sleepless nights, I built up the courage to confide in one of my closest friends about mysexuality. Sadly her unpleasant reaction was predictable because of prejudice she'd displayed against LGBTQIA people in the past and our friendship soon fizzled out. A few years later, less than two months before my 17th birthday I once again attempted to confide in a close friend about my interest in both men AND women, but my revelation was shrugged off with little more than an eye roll a snide 'it's just a phase' comment thrown in for good measure.
Up until a few months ago my mental health was improving at a relatively steady pace. I've been off my anxiety medication for almost eleven months (which I wrote about here) and my Emetophobia which has always been a HUGE anxiety trigger of mine has improved drastically, but lately things have been going a little downhill. I've always suffered from some degree of Health Anxiety but in the last few weeks it's escalated to the point where I'm constantly and obsessively worried about my physical health.
At the beginning of August I wrote my first Beauty Bits on Trial post and since then I've been itching to share all the fab products I've been trialing and testing throughout the month of September. I've really enjoyed writing these mini reviews/first impressions so they'll definitely be making an appearance around here every month or so from now on (if you like reading them of course) I've had some gorgeous makeup & skincare bits sent to me recently (and I've been making a few Boots orders here and there) so I've had a lot of new products to sink my teeth into over the past few weeks.
When I think of The Body Shop the first thing that comes to mind is beautifully scented body butters and fruity tubs of lip balm, but for the past couple of months I've been trying more and more of their superb makeup range (I'll be featuring lots of their fab products on here very soon) so when this STUNNING palette from their new 'Down to Earth' collection arrived on my doorstep a couple of weeks ago, I was stoked to try it out for myself.
After a quick skim through my emails on Tuesday I was absolutely thrilled to find out that I've been shortlisted in both the Beauty and Lifestyle categories in this years Littlewoods Ireland Blog Awards! I was extremely lucky to make the longlist last year, so I'm absolutely delighted that I've managed to make it to the shortlist this time round in not one, but TWO categories along with an array of fantastic bloggers.
After exactly four weeks and three days of one of the most testing spending bans I've ever been on, I was finally able to place the mother of all orders this month, and treat myself to a few goodies on my never ending beauty wishlist (I'm not going to feature all of them in this post because honestly we'd be here till September, but they will be making an appearance around here in the next few weeks) I thought I'd share a few of the beauty bits I picked up with you all, and give you my initial thoughts/first impressions of some products I've been lusting over/trialling/falling in love with!
Oh July, you've been a right little pain haven't you? After an unbelievably hectic month I FINALLY have a few hours to myself, to sit down and write some posts with a big ass mug of tea and a half eaten box of chocolate chip cookies. BLISS. I've been struggling trying to write this post for at least a week now but somewhere along the way I lost my blogging mojo and the thought of turning on my laptop filled me with utter dread. SO,instead of half assing things I thought I'd take a little time off to refocus. It's taking a little longer than I expected to get back into the swing of things but hopefully with a little patience and a LOT of motivation things will go back to normal soon enough.
When I first started blogging I didn't really invest in my blog at all. I used a free Blogger template that I found online, I took my blog photos on a 5 megapixel smartphone camera and the only props/backgrounds I used were white bed sheets from Argos and an old fashion magazine that I found at the back of my bookshelf. For around 6/7+ months I didn't invest in my blog, and although that worked for me at the time (you definitely DO NOT HAVE TO invest money into your blog if you don't want to/can't afford to) I decided to splash some cash on some shiny new equipment to up my blogging game and make things a little bit easier for myself.
A few weeks ago I received a beautiful little package from Crownbrush UK, a brand that I've been reading a TON of reviews on lately, but up until a few weeks ago I hadn't actually tried them out for myself. The lovely PR peeps were very secretive about what they were sending me (which was very exciting) so I was over the moon when I ripped open my parcel to find this stunning collection of brushes* I 100% believe that good makeup brushes are the KEY to creating a flawless makeup look so I'm always on the lookout for some fab little tools to make my daily application that much easier, and thanks to Crownbrush I'm one step closer to picture perfect makeup. SO, which brushes did I receive and what did I think of them?
